ARCHITECTURAL GLASS ART, INC. has a long and rich history. Originally founded in 1875 by G.B. Alberts, it is ne of the oldest American studios in continuous operation. Alberts sold the studio in 1892 to the noted English glass artist, Edwin Penna, who renamed it Louisville Art Glass. The studio remained in the Penna family until 1991, when it was purchased by the internationally recognized glass artist, Kenneth vonRoenn. VonRoenn, who has been educated as an architect (M.Arch. Yale University), reorganized the studio to focus on more diverse applications of glass, thereby expanding the role of glass in architecture. The name of the studio was changed to Architectural Glass Art to reflect this new focus.

Diversity of techniques has become Architectural Glass Art's hallmark. By expanding beyond its heritage of traditional stained glass techniques through the exploration of new technologies, the studio can more appropriately address the aesthetic needs of contemporary architecture.

One of these new techniques that AGA has refined is CAST GLASS, a visually exciting glass because of its dimensional surface that provides obscurity and texture. Because of these qualities it has a broad range of applications in architecture. AGA has developed a unique system of cast glass, the Modular Mold System that allows designers to create custom designs at standard prices.
